Robin and I took two more weeks off at the end of January and beginning of February, to catch some of summer, and just generally recover from a very busy last year.
For the first of those weeks, we focused on getting some stuff done around the house. Robin and Dad spent some time on the retaining wall in the backgarden, getting it to it's finished state with seat caps on. We think it looks great and now we can move on to sorting the backfill of soil, getting the new lawn in, planting the garden, and sorting the outdoor lights. Exciting!
Work in progress..... |
....and finished product! |
We also sorted all the stuff in the garage into piles - junk, garage sale, Mum and Dad's boxes of memories, and all of Darryl and Jo's stuff. Plus we made some progress on next stages on the house - arranging for quotes for the outdoor lighting, and also getting quotes for sun awnings under the pergola.
It wasn't all work though...we spent a lot of time with the little man hanging out. And Nate helped out with chores too...here is after he fed the cat and Mummy squealed at him...sigh.
We also finally got around to replacing his Elmo...Old Elmo no longer talks, as he has been (affectionately) head butted against the wooden floors for too long now, and no matter how hard Nate tried, Elmo just wouldn't utter another word :-(. So we have been joined by New Elmo...who is as much loved as Old Elmo! Check out the video below of meeting of the two Elmos.....followed by their weekly dental check.....
We also had a LOT of fun hanging out with Nate 24/7. He is really turning into a cheeky little monkey :-)
Here he is chilling with Daddy in front of the telly.....
A few shots of nightly cuddles with Grandaddy as well as story-time with Granny.....
Entertaining Grandaddy and Granny.....
On the swings at Potters Park, after a fun play run in the park's water sprinkler play area....
Having fun at home with our own water sprinkler.....
Playing with his sisters.....he just LOVES that!
Plus we even managed a great night out on the town with my parents - we went to see Sting and Paul Simon in concert - a surprisingly good pairing of artists, and a great night was had by all. Kind of odd to be out on a Friday night....actually kind of odd to be out at night at all!!
So a great start to our two week holiday, and the beach was still to come......see next blog update!
