Christmas at Waiheke - Part 1

This year, we were invited to spend Nate's third Christmas at Waiheke with my folks, and so we headed over on the afternoon of the 24th of December. While Robin had to return to work for a couple of days in between Christmas and New Year, Nate and I managed to get the whole week with my folks, only returning to Auckland on the 1st of January. We had a great time - it was just a real joy for Nate to get such awesome quality time with them, and to top it off we had really lovely sunny weather too (well bar New Year's Day anyway).

Here are some of the highlights of our week away....

  • Nate packing his toy bag the night before we left...

  • Nate being so amazingly good on the ferry ride over! Granny and I explained we were going on the car ferry to see Grandaddy at Granny and Grandaddy's house. He really seemed to understand me, even though he has only been there a handful of times in his short life. And he was SO GOOD! Sat upstairs in the cafe area for the hour or so that it took, and happily played on his iPad. Wow. So much easier than expected! Such a good BooBoo!
  • Spending Christmas Day and Boxing Day with my folks, enjoying the magic of watching Nate really get into understanding the fun of Christmas! Here he is dressed for the celebration....
  • Watching Nate experience the joy of opening his Christmas presents, finished off with a yummy turkey dinner on the weber BBQ....awesome :-). Unfortunately we didn't capture a shot of him opening every present, but fair to say he was super excited and super spoilt!
First present....on Christmas Eve!
Magnatiles from Granny & Grandaddy!
Bubble machine from Santa!
Christmas...Island style!

  • Second key highlight? Watching Nate get hours of enjoyment playing with all his exciting new toys over the last week. Here are just some of the shots of him in action....
Not yet a big fan of building, but he does like to put tiles IN to the built structure, and then knocking it over!
Playing with my new (well very old & non-working) phone!
Playing with my new magformers from D&J
Daddy showing me how my fire engine squirts water!!
Hang on! That got me!!!
Showing Grandaddy what to do!

More to follow in Part 2 to come....
